Julie Turner

Painting

A passion for art began at age five with Julie’s drawings in love letters to Elvis. As a self-taught artist, she continued creating art in her free time for many years during a corporate career. Julie’s art career started in earnest following her journey through breast cancer. In 2003, she began taking art workshops at the studios of artists she admires. Gaining fresh perspectives helped her see subjects in a new way, which has translated into captivating paintings.

Julie feels art should be accessible to all. Her artwork centers on subjects that are intended to bring joy and a sense of wonder to the viewer. Since moving to Chattanooga, she is obsessed with clouds and exploring the various landscapes. Although unable to keep a plant alive, Julie also loves to paint flowers.

In 2015, Julie moved to Chattanooga from suburban Chicago with her husband, Ed, and their two dogs. They love the vibrancy of Chattanooga’s cultural offerings and hospitality without the enormous crowds and traffic found in larger cities. When she is not painting, Julie enjoys being involved in pet therapy at Siskin West Hospital and working at the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

Julie’s artwork is part of private and corporate collections throughout the United States. She may be contacted through In-Town Gallery or through her website, julieturnerfineart.com.
