Artist-Owned and Managed Since 1974
In-Town Gallery is a cooperative gallery of fine American craft and contemporary art located on the thriving NorthShore of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
A group came together to establish In-Town Gallery in 1974, a time when there were very few opportunities for Chattanooga area artists and fine craftsmen to exhibit and sell their work locally. The gallery moved to its current location, a vintage building in the popular NorthShore area of Chattanooga, more than 20 years ago. Now one of the oldest artist cooperatives in the U.S., In-Town Gallery continues to exhibit the best in fine American craft and contemporary art by established local artists. The artwork includes paintings in oils, acrylics, watercolor, mixed media and encaustics, as well as photography, etchings, sculpture, jewelry, fiber art, glass, woodwork and pottery. The membership includes many award-winning artists who also exhibit in major venues, art fairs and galleries in other areas of the country.
The artists staff the gallery themselves, and they are very knowledgeable about the varied artwork. A number of the members also demonstrate and discuss their working processes at the gallery desk. Different artist-members are featured monthly. The gallery also participates in special events.
