“I find the constant color and light shifts in the sky from dawn to dusk, awe-inspiring. There is no better way for me to begin my day than with a glorious sunrise! With my painting series, I hope to inspire an appreciation for the beauty of the natural world above us and find a sense of calm, peace or a feeling of excitement that is reflected in paint.”
Ellyn Bivin has had a passion for drawing and painting since early childhood. Her love for art lead her to pursue a career in painting and drawing which began at the University of TN, Chattanooga and continued at Virginia Commonwealth University, finishing with a BFA in art education. Graduate study at UTC allowed her to delve into both painting and printmaking, experimenting with new methods of creating images by combining old world etching and modern-day painting techniques, first with monotypes and more recently in paintings. Since that time, she has continued her interest in both painting and printmaking, along with teaching.
Ellyn’s work has been shown internationally and nationally and is in collections around the country. Most recently, she has shown work at the Creative Arts Guild’s 54th Annual Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts in Dalton, GA and Arts at Erlanger Gallery Hall, Chattanooga, TN.
