ELEANOR GOODSON
A native
Chattanoogan, Eleanor Goodson is a self-espoused rock hound who began working
with semi-precious stones when she was given lapidary equipment in the fourth grade. It was then that she learned the qualities of the
different gems, and this early interest and knowledge of stones led to her later
involvement with jewelry design. She
creates Etruscan-style hand-woven chains from 22 K gold, pure silver, or electrum. To create a chain, she alloys the metal, makes the
metal into wire and then into fused links. The
links are then woven together to form a distinctive pattern. Her cast pieces are carved in wax then cast in
gold or silver. Her
creations include rings, pendants, pins and even an occasional belt buckle. Necklace designs are created by combining
semiprecious stones, pearls, gold or silver beads or cast pieces in aesthetic combinations
that are both distinctive and original. |
